Vincent Cianni graduated with a MFA from the State University of NY at New Paltz and currently is an instructor at the Parsons School of Design. Cianni is works in the medium of polaroid positives which gives a lush rendition of tones and an almost non-existent grain stucture, which when enlarged produces an image of high resolution and sharpness. For the last number of years, Cianni has photographed in the Latino neighborhood in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The Southside is a tough community where violence co-exists with strong family values, religion, and cultural pride. His incredible images depict how faces, clothing and posturing commnicate pride, self-assuredness, naivete' and feigned maturity.
